In 1973 a landmark show called Sound Sculpture opened at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This record and its 12-page booklet, now reissued by Art Into Life (Japan), were intended to serve as an annotated audio catalog for that amazing show. John Grayson and I produced this record, with participation on some tracks by my many-decades-long friend and collaborator, great pianist, J.B. Floyd, who had flown out so that we could perform two-piano music at the exhibition opening. Together with John Grayson’s amazing books, Sound Sculpture and Environments of Musical Sculpture You Can Build (A.R.C. Publications, 1975 & 1976), this collection of materials and events offered a major contribution to an important era in the evolution of sound art. My often referenced, participatory brainwave installation, called Vancouver Piece, was in the exhibition and is described in Grayson’s book, Sound Sculpture.
